Microsoft Office 2011 Users Beware

September 5, 2017

Microsoft has noted that Office 2011 will not be compatible with Apple's next macOS release, High Sierra, due in a few weeks. They have no plans to update it, meaning users will either need to upgrade to the latest version of Office 2016 (15.35 or later), or lose access to the software. This isn't terribly surprising considering the age of Office 2011, but it is a good reminder never to upgrade to a completely new version of the OS until you're sure all of your existing software is compatible.

Also consider this a gentle reminder that Apple's suite of competing products (Pages, Numbers, and Keynote) can open and save Office files, are included free on current Macs, and work beautifully.
