Get Your Facebook File

March 13, 2018

Ever wondered just how much information Facebook has on you? Well, now you can find out. Here's how:

  1. Click  at the top right of any Facebook page and select Settings.

  2. Click Download a copy of your Facebook data below your General Account Settings.

  3. Click Start My Archive.

Facebook will email you when your data is ready for download.

A few quick tidbits:

  • They never delete anything. Ever. They track every single thing you've ever done in perpetuity.

  • They can use the data collected to know your daily routine, such as where you work, what time you wake up, and what businesses you frequent.

  • Every time you're tagged in a photo, Facebook adds that picture to a database. They may have hundreds of photos of your face, and they claim they can identify a person in one picture out of 800 million in less than five seconds.

  • If you've granted Facebook access to your contact list (which they ask for) then they know everyone you've ever had contact with.
